The Different Types of Contact Lenses

People with vision-related problems would use contact lenses for they considered it as the most effective means to be able to see correctly. These thin plastic lenses are being fitted right on the cornea of the eyes in order to correct any vision problems in your eyesight. Common problems are nearsightedness and farsightedness or astigmatism.

There are a lot of options available for you to choose from. But the question is, “how are you going to choose the best one?”

There are actually two different types of contact lenses – the soft ones and the hard ones or rigid gas permeable contact lenses. Soft contact lenses are those that are made of soft polymer-plastic material and combined with some amount of water.  The water on it allows the oxygen to pass through the material of the lenses in order to increase comfort. On the other hand, rigid gas permeable lenses are of course, more rigid and are therefore more durable. They are made of silicone polymers that allow oxygen to circulate into the cornea of the eyes.
